The
Leach 2R-II is the most widely
used high compaction garbage collection body manufactured in the United
States today. In the State of Florida alone, there are in excess of
1200 Leach 2R-II's currently in use on a daily basis. There
have been approximately 500 units delivered to happy customers in
Florida in the past five years.
The 2R-II
is available in sizes ranging from 20 - 33 Cu. Yds. This body is
available with a variety of optional equipment such as drum winches,
reeving cylinders, hydraulic container attachments, commercial body
reinforcements, washout tanks, etc.
Mounted on tandem
axle chassis, the 2R-II is virtually indestructible making
it the unit of choice when the collection job is a combination of
both residential and commercial work. The body utilizes a floor-trough
design which is a Leach "trademark". This design makes
it possible for Leach to place weight in the body where it does
the most good rather than wasting it on structural reinforcements
and body supports.
Further, the floor-trough acts as a sump in that liquids are kept
in this area helping to give the lower center of gravity and weight
distribution the Leach body is known for. This body strength is
one of the primary reasons it is not uncommon to see Leach bodies
operating well past the 7-8 years when other bodies are being replaced.
It is also not uncommon to find Leach bodies mounted on their third
or fourth chassis.
