The
Labrie Cool Hand is an adaptation
of the Expert 2000 manual side loader and is available in sizes ranging
from 22 - 33 Cu. Yds.. The Cool Hand has quickly become the automated
industry standard.
The automated arm is clearly state-of-the-art and has features not
available from any other manufacturer. The arm, when extended, allows
the operator to stand on the ground and lubricate every grease fitting
on the arm without having to climb up between the body and the cab.
This is not available on any other automated side loader. Should the
arm require servicing, it is simply unbolted from the side of the
body and removed.
Further, because the arm is mounted on the side of the body instead
of the conventional method of mounting between the body and the cab,
the body is able to be mounted closer to the cab allowing for a shorter
wheelbase chassis to be utilized resulting in the best weight distribution
and turning radius available.
The gripper
is operated by a single hydraulic cylinder eliminating the need
for troublesome gear-type opening and closing mechanisms. The arm
is also available with a spill shield not provided by any other
manufacturer. This spill shield is mounted on the gripper and keeps
overfilled carts, or plastic bags placed on the tops of carts, from
spilling material onto the ground during the dump cycle. No need
for the operator to leave the cab as is common with other makes.
The Cool Hand,
because it was adapted from the Expert 2000 manual side loader,
is also on a drop frame chassis with manual hopper loading doors
on both sides of the body. When coupled with semi-automated cart
tippers, the operator now has three options for loading garbage:
manually, with cart tippers or with the automated arm. This unit
also utilizes the standard pre-crusher panel found on the Expert
2000. This lets the operator pick up bulky, odd-shaped items for
crushing prior to compacting. The Cool Hand is clearly the most
versatile automated side loader available.
The Cool Hand
arm has the longest reach in the industry at 114" and will
accommodate virtually any size refuse container including 55 gallon
drums. The arm joystick is movable in that it is easily moved from
the right side to the left side in order to accommodate operator
preference. Because of the hopper design, carts placed at the curb
can be facing in any direction without risking damage to the cart
lids as is common with other automated side loaders.
