3/22/2010- BOCA RATON GOES GREEN!!

The Boca Raton City Council recently approved the purchase of Florida's first Labrie, Peterbilt, Eaton Corporation hybrid refuse collection truck. This automated side loading garbage truck is state of the art, and will allow the city to collect garbage in a more fuel efficient manner by utilizing hydraulics for starting and stopping, thus saving on fuel as well as reducing brake wear. This system, manufactured by Eaton Corporation, is known as their HLA (Hydraulic Launch Assist) system. Accelerating and stopping is assisted by this hydraulic system, meaning less fuel is used during the starting process and the truck will be stopped hydraulically, greatly reducing brake wear as much as four times.
